How to work as a Nurse in Qatar?

If you intend to work as a registered General Nurse in the state of Qatar, then the first step is to attend and pass the Qatar Prometric Nursing License Examination.

DHP Qatar Exam Requirements for Nurses

To apply for the Qatar Nursing Licensing Exam, you must have the following:

  • A recognized primary degree BSN (Bachelor’s degree in Nursing) for 4 years or a diploma in nursing for the duration of 3 years
  • A minimum of 2 years of clinical experience
  • A valid registration or license

New graduate or registered nurses with less experience than 2 years & registered in country of current license must complete an internship program in Qatar or can demonstrate completion of equivalent in home country.

Qatar Specialty Nurse Eligibility

All nurses who are qualified as registered nurse and hold post graduate certificate in one of the nursing specialties with minimum one-year full time course duration can apply as specialty nurse. They must also have completed a minimum of one year's experience post qualification in the related specialty field.

Qatar DHP Nursing RN Exam

Qatar DHP Exam Attempts

Nurses may take QCHP nursing exam up to 5 consecutive times whatever the gap between each attempt. Any exam result after the fifth attempt will not be considered.

  • Score of 50% and above is considered to be a pass for QCHP nursing exam.

Validity of Qatar prometric exam results for nurses

The results of the exam are valid for 3 years from the Exam date.

Break or Gap in practice

You should have no gap in your professional practice before applying for Qatar nursing exams. If you have been out of practice for two consecutive years or more, please apply for training. 

From 2 to less than 3 years

4 months of supervised practice/ Clinical Attachment (full time)

From 4 to less than 7 years

6 months of supervised practice/ Clinical Attachment (full time)

From 7 to less than 10 years

1 Year of training supervised practice/ Clinical Attachment (full time)

DHP Qatar Prometric exam/Licensing Requirements for Nurses:

  • The nurse must apply through the registration/licensing electronic system available on the DHP website, complete the online application, and pay the required fees.
  • Submit an electronic “Apply for Evaluation” request and upload the following documents:
    • Copy of valid passport.
    • Copy of valid QID (front and back) or copy of the national ID*.
    • One recent photo
    • An up-to-date Curriculum Vitae (C.V).
    • Copy of all academic certificates with official transcripts.
    • Copy of recent work experience certificates with issue date
    • Copy of valid registration/licenses accompanying the years of work.
    • Copy of positive primary source verification report.
    • Apply online for evaluation, complete and submit the application with all the required documents
